Brass Filter Coffee Set

The South Indian way to make coffee, in brushed brass. Ground coffee goes in the perforated upper cup, hot water on top, lid on; a few minutes later the lower cup holds a thick decoction. Mix it with hot milk and pour it between the davara and tumbler to cool it and raise a froth.

The filter is engraved with an interlaced kolam knot, the pattern drawn at thresholds each morning.
